Do I need a lawyer to incorporate a company in Singapore?
Not necessarily. You can incorporate yourself through ACRA's BizFile+ portal, or use a corporate secretary. A lawyer is worth it for complex share structures, multiple founders, or foreign ownership. AITHENA helps you understand what you actually need before you spend.
What is a SAFE, and when should a startup use one?
A SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity) lets an investor put money in now for equity later, without fixing a valuation today. It is common for early, pre-priced rounds because it is faster and cheaper than a full priced round. AITHENA can draft one from a Singapore-law template.
How much does it cost to get a contract reviewed?
A traditional firm usually charges by the hour, so a single review can run into the hundreds. AITHENA reviews a contract clause by clause in plain English for SGD 40, with no subscription, or as part of the SGD 50 a month plan, and flags the risks before you sign.
Is a verbal agreement legally binding in Singapore?
It can be. A contract needs offer, acceptance, consideration, and an intention to be legally bound, and it does not always have to be in writing. But verbal terms are hard to prove, so putting things in writing protects you. AITHENA can tell you where you stand and draft the written version.
Do I need a lawyer to recover an unpaid invoice?
Often not. You can send a formal letter of demand yourself, and claims up to SGD 20,000 (or SGD 30,000 by consent) go to the Small Claims Tribunals, which is designed to work without lawyers. AITHENA drafts the letter of demand and walks you through the steps.
